Middleton Municipal Airport Projects
Middleton Municipal Airport – Morey Field is a general aviation facility that benefits from a combination of federal, state, and local investment. Funding comes through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA), and programs such as the Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). These partnerships help ensure the airport’s infrastructure continues to meet the needs of the community and region.
This page provides up-to-date information on planned and active infrastructure and operations projects at the airport. Details will be added as new information becomes available.
The Middleton Municipal Airport proposes to undertake a Drainage Study to evaluate how water traverses through and around the Airport. With the understanding that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hydrologic flow values are dated and may no longer be accurate, the Drainage Study will use hydrologic flow values from the more recent Floodplain Modeling and Mapping study for Pheasant Branch Creek, prepared by MARS-EOR for the City of Middleton. As part of the Airport Drainage Study, a copy of the Pheasant Branch Creek model will be requested to analyze the model and determine whether it accurately represents flood control and conveyance structures at the Airport. The Drainage Study will use data and information from the Pheasant Branch Creek model, along with available survey data, to create a new Airport-specific model. The Drainage Study will model existing conditions at the Airport and will also model improvement alternatives. Alternatives such as dredging and bank stabilization—which increase hydraulic efficiency—may be recommended, as well as subsurface storage—which can maintain or increase storage capacity while minimizing standing water.

This project will rehabilitate the full length of Taxiway A and the connectors within the Taxiway A object-free area. The proposed project areas are shown in the image below. The project aims to maintain the existing pavement geometry and not add any additional impervious areas. There is currently direct access between the Terminal Ramp and Runway 10-28. This project will move or eliminate this connector.
Three large culverts cross both the runway and taxiway on the west end of the field. There has been a history of settlement over these culverts. The project proposes to line the inside of the culverts to prevent future infiltration and material migration.
No additional runway, taxiway, or roadway pavement will be added during this project. The design phase for this project is scheduled to occur in 2025, with construction anticipated in 2026 or 2027, pending funding.
