Ethics Board
Overview
The Ethics Board advises the Common Council on maintaining the Code of Ethics (Section 2.20(6) of this Chapter) which sets forth standards of conduct for City officials and employees, interprets those ethics guidelines, and investigates any verified complaint alleging improper conduct under the Ethics Code.
The Ethics Board consists of seven members: one Member of the Common Council as appointed by the Common Council for a one-year term as a nonvoting member; one City public official or public employee who is not an alderperson as a nonvoting member; and five voting citizen members, all appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Common Council. None of the five citizen voting members may concurrently serve on any other city board, committee, or commission. The City Human Resources Manager shall serve as staff to the Board.
