MGE Electric Upgrade Project Update

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) continues making progress on electric system upgrades throughout Middleton. This project will improve service reliability, reduce outages, minimize tree trimming, and prepare the community for future power needs by replacing aging equipment and installing new underground electric lines.

Construction is now approximately 60% complete and is expected to finish this summer.

Current work is focused on the remaining areas south of University Avenue, including Maple Street, Cooper Avenue, Anderson Avenue, South Avenue, Mayflower Drive, Orchid Lane, Maple Court, and Park Street. Crews will then move to areas north of University Avenue, including Mendota Avenue, Lakeview Boulevard, N Gateway Street, and Branch Street.

Residents may also see tree trimming and restoration work as construction progresses. Any disturbed areas will be restored to their original condition.

MGE thanks residents who have signed easements to support the project. Easements are required only for certain properties, as determined by project requirements.
