Middleton Police Arrest Student Following Incident at Middleton High School
Middleton, WI — On February 18, 2026, at approximately 12:09 p.m., Middleton Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs) at Middleton High School contacted a 15-year-old male student regarding a disturbance that occurred earlier in the school day.
During the contact, the student resisted officers and was taken into custody. No injuries were reported to the student or officers. There was no active threat to the school or community.
After the student was detained, a facsimile firearm was located in the student’s possession. The item was determined to be a CO₂-powered air gun designed to closely resemble a real handgun. A photo of the recovered air gun is included with this release.
The student was arrested, and the following charges are being referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office:
• Dangerous weapon on school premises
• Resisting an officer
• Disorderly conduct
This incident remains under investigation. The Middleton Police Department appreciates the cooperative partnership with the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District. The presence of our SROs in the building and their swift action ensured a safe outcome for everyone.
