Holiday Tree Pickup Begins SoonIf you had a real Christmas tree this year, here’s what to know as we head into January. Public Works crews begin curbside collection the first week of January. Based on past years, crews typically make about two rounds through the city and are usually finished before February. Weather and emergency work may affect exact timing.
How to Set Your Tree Out for Pickup
- Remove all decorations, lights, tinsel, garland, bags, and tree stands.
- Place trees curbside with the stump end facing to the right (when looking at the street).
- Ensure trees are not frozen to the ground.
- Keep trees clear of garbage/recycling carts, hydrants, mailboxes, and parked vehicles.
Important: Check for Invasive PestsBefore placing greenery at the curb, please check for Elongate Hemlock Scale (EHS). It appears as hard, brown, waxy spots under the needles. If you find EHS: - Bag the greenery in plastic.
- Label it “Invasive Species.”
- Dispose of it in your regular garbage.
