Hydrant Flushing Starts September 28

Helping Keep Middleton’s Water Safe, Clean, and Flowing

The City of Middleton Water Utility will begin its semi-annual hydrant flushing program starting Saturday night, September 28, and continuing on the following schedule:

Flushing Dates:

- September 28 – October 2
- October 5 – 9
- Time: Overnight, between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Hydrant flushing is a critical part of our routine maintenance program. It helps:

- Maintain high water quality
- Ensure hydrants function properly in emergencies
- Clear mineral buildup and sediment from water mains

What You Might Notice:

- Temporary water discoloration (brown or rust-colored).
- The water is safe to use, and should clear after running your cold water tap for a few minutes.
- A slight drop in water pressure during the overnight hours in your area.
- We recommend doing laundry and other water-intensive activities outside of flushing hours, just to be safe.
