Middleton Celebrates Grand Opening of
Lake Street Park with Ribbon Cutting
Community members, city leaders, and artists gathered this afternoon to officially open Lake Street Park, Middleton’s newest public lakefront space, located at 6000 Lake Street. The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from elected officials, and a hands-on printmaking activity hosted by Milligan Studios.
The celebration marked the culmination of planning and investment to transform the site into a welcoming, accessible community space with scenic views of Lake Mendota. The park offers open green space, a lakeside dock, and a new opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy one of Middleton’s most beautiful natural assets.
“Lake Street Park is a gift to our residents and a promise to future generations,” said Mayor Emily Kuhn during the ceremony. “It reflects our values—community connection, access to nature, and thoughtful stewardship of our public spaces. We’re proud to share this moment with all of you.”
The program also included remarks from District 3 Alder Katy Nelson and Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission Chair Nick Adams, both of whom played a role in advocating for the site’s redevelopment.
Families and attendees of all ages participated in a creative printmaking station set up by Milligan Studios, where they created custom keepsakes to commemorate the park’s opening.
Lake Street Park was developed as part of the City’s broader efforts to increase access to outdoor recreation, support the arts, and enhance quality of life through sustainable design and inclusive public space.
