City of Middleton Welcomes New Police Chief Steven Thompson

January 24, 2025 – Today, the City of Middleton officially welcomed Steven Thompson as its new Chief of Police during a swearing-in ceremony at the Middleton Police Department’s Court Chambers. The event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the department and the Middleton community as Chief Thompson assumes leadership of the city’s public safety efforts.   

Chief Thompson brings 18 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as Captain of Patrol and Special Services with the New Berlin Police Department. He has a proven track record of fostering community trust, developing innovative policing strategies, and prioritizing officer wellness.   

Mayor Emily Kuhn praised Chief Thompson’s dedication to public service and vision for the future.  “Steven Thompson’s experience, leadership, and commitment to community policing make him the ideal choice to lead the Middleton Police Department,” said Mayor Kuhn. “His focus on transparency, innovation, and collaboration will help ensure our city remains a safe and welcoming place for all residents and visitors.”   

During the ceremony, Chief Thompson expressed his excitement about serving Middleton.  “I am honored and humbled to step into this role and serve a vibrant and committed community as Middleton,” Chief Thompson said. “I look forward to working closely with the dedicated members of the police department and the community to build trust, enhance public safety, and continue advancing innovative policing strategies.”   

Chief Thompson is eager to engage with the community and collaborate with city leadership to address public safety challenges and opportunities.
