Request For Variances From
City Of Middleton Sign Ordinance

At a meeting of the Plan Commission to be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 7:15 p.m., at Middleton City Hall, 7426 Hubbard Ave., Middleton, the following matter will be heard:

An application by Vital Signs on behalf of the Chalmers Jewelers, 6202 University Ave., requesting variances from the sign ordinance for overall sign height as well as for design and height of the supporting base. The applicant also intends to incorporate to construct a sign measuring 20 ft. in width and 2.0 to 2.5 ft. in height  mounted atop two supports that are each 7.5’ high. The sign is designed to incorporate an existing 16 sq.ft. changeable copy sign. Section 22.08(2)(c) states that any ground sign shall be erected as a monument-style sign. Pole signs are prohibited unless the pole portion is enclosed in a shroud that causes the sign to appear to have a monolithic base measuring no less than 1/3 of the greatest width of the sign. Section 22.08(2)(e) states that a ground sign shall be mounted on a base not to exceed 4 ft. in height and the overall height of a sign in this location shall not exceed 10 ft.

At the hearing, all interested persons will have an opportunity to be heard, and action will be considered.
