Tree Lighting FAQ

The Holiday Tree Lighting Event will take place completely virtually via the City of Middleton’s Public Lands, Recreation & Forestry Facebook page & Middleton Recreation Youtube Page. Games like Bingo & Name that Tune require advance registration in order to receive the Zoom link. We look forward to seeing you all virtually this year!  #middletontreelighting

Why is the Event Virtual?

The health of our residents is important to us. Public Health Madison and Dane County health orders require outdoor gatherings to have 25 people or fewer. In order to make the Downtown Tree Lighting Event inclusive to the entire community, the Recreation Staff have put together a virtual event, to allow you to participate in your favorite Middleton DowntownTree Lighting activities from the comfort and safety of your home!

Can I watch the Middleton Tree Lighting in person from a distance?

We ask patrons not to gather on November 21st for the Downtown Tree Lighting. The video that will be streaming online will be a prerecorded video. Families are welcome to stop downtown and take a picture in front of the tree any time after November 21st! Use #middletontreelighting to share your photos with our community!

What time can I pick up supplies?

Supply pick up for Bingo Cards, Reindeer Ornaments, and Hot Cocoa will be on Saturday, November 21, from 10am to Noon at Lakeview Park & Orchid Heights Park. Pick up for the Celebrate Winter craft will be available at the Library from Noon to 2pm on the 21st as well. Supplies are available 1 per child while supplies last.

How does the Drive Thru Pick-Up Station work?

In effort to make pick-up of supplies more accessible, we will have staff stationed at Lakeview Park & Orchid Heights Park with a table set up to provide contactless drive thru pick-up. Families can drive to one of these locations, pull up to the table, and a staff member will bring a bag of supplies to your car.

Do I have to use Drive Thru in order to get supplies?

Walk-up options are available as well at Lakeview Park & Orchid Heights Park, but we kindly ask patrons to wear a mask when approaching the table for pick up.

How will I receive access to play Bingo & Name that Tune?

Families must register online on Rec Desk in advance of the program to receive a zoom link to participate in both Bingo & Name That Tune. If a family is playing together at home, only 1 registration is needed. Zoom and Bingo card links will be emailed to families on Friday November 20th.

What if I have questions on how to do the craft or cooking recipe?

If you have questions during the Cooking & Arts and Craft section of our program, a staff member will be monitoring the Facebook Comment Section on the instructional video to answer your questions in live time. Simply type in your question and our staff will do their best to help!

What ingredients are needed for Cooking with Kids?

Cooking with Kids is available to anyone to participate. A video with ingredients needed for the program will be posted onto the Middleton Recreation Facebook Page and the City of Middleton website the week of November 16th.
